4N Sales at GoDaddy Auction in April

And a look at how Chinese numerology drives their value

If you were a domain investor back in the 2015 / 2016 timeframe, you may have done a lot of research into numeric domains, Chinese numerology and Chinese phonetic interpretation. There was an explosion of investment in 4N, 5N and even 6N dot coms (and some other extensions) at the time. Much of that has tailed off since, but shorter numerics (typically 4N or less) and very highly valued number combinations in 5N and 6N still have significant value. We didn’t have ChatGPT back then to explain it all to us so we had to ask Chinese friends and neighbors what these number combos meant. I found it fascinating. Here’s a list of 4N domains that sold at GoDaddy expired auctions in April of this year along with what ChatGPT had to say about them. It’s explanations with regard to quality largely align with the prices the domains fetched at auction.

Interpretation: Phonetically less desirable due to double 4 (sì = death), but the repetition of 6 and the rising 7 can soften it. Could imply recovering from hardship or stability followed by growth.

6-0-1-5 → Smooth-zero-one-me
Interpretation: May imply a fresh start or “I begin again smoothly”. The 0 and 1 combo can feel techy, and the 5 (“me”) gives it personalization.

1-7-9-3 → One-rise-forever-life
Interpretation: Very positive. Could be read as “rise forever in life” or “continuous growth and longevity.” Strong numerology appeal.

8-3-4-4 → Wealth-life-death-death
Interpretation: The double 4 can be problematic, especially at the end. The domain starts strong (8-3), but the ending may turn off superstitious buyers.

8-7-8-9 → Wealth-rise-wealth-forever
Interpretation: Strong! Suggests “continuous rise in wealth and longevity”. Repeating lucky numbers. Very desirable pattern.

Interpretation: Could suggest “eternal ease” or “smooth path for me”. Not especially premium but has positive tones.

Interpretation: Good symmetry. Could mean “easy path forever” or “together forever”. Sounds harmonious and clean.
