Cloud. ai Sells for $600K and a Great List of Expiring Domain names
There’s an ongoing debate about whether .ai names have become so expensive at the wholesale level that they no longer make sense to buy — in other words, the boat has sailed. It’s a debate because the sales keep coming. I have a 30% sell-through rate and have sold two of the names I purchased in the last two months for 10x. I don’t pretend my experiences are the norm, but I do see sales from friends — and they’re killing it. I can also say they’ve only been in AI for about a year. They’re the ones driving up prices because they’re reinvesting their profits back into .ai names.
The biggest argument I hear is that there are better profits sticking to .com. “Keep doing what I’m doing.” That usually means people are working with limited resources and putting them into what they know best. Ideally, you’d look for the best opportunities across all TLDs. Right now, I think that’s mainly .com, .ai, and a bit of .xyz. I don’t see any sense in limiting myself to .com when a large percentage of current sales are .ai. Why wouldn’t I want to participate if I can find names that I think offer value? It’s easy to say the wholesale market is overpriced — but isn’t that where good hunters come in? Finding the names that others miss?
I think the retail prices of .ai reflect the current high wholesale prices. Some don’t agree. But where we do agree is that when you find something at a good wholesale price, you can either quick flip to “normal” wholesale or get a better margin at retail. I didn’t go for home runs on the .ai names I sold — 10x cost was the price, and they were purchased recently. The names I priced higher haven’t sold. But 10x is still a solid profit. I could probably buy those same names again at what I paid. I paid more than anyone else was willing because I won the auction.
Only time and sales will tell. I’m riding multiple horses, but AI is one of them. PS Looks like Cloud.ai sold for $600K
Quote of the Day: “Early registrants of .AI domain names may be rewarded handsomely. … When I read some of the .AI sales reports, I have some FOMO. I would rather have this FOMO than spend a substantial amount of money speculating on .AI domain names.” — Elliot Silver
Domain of the DayCertifiedNurse.com Might be the most available and needed position in the world , AI won’t replace hands on care
