DSAD Monday: Godaddy's Domain Trading Contest and 100s of Expired Domains
Not sure if anyone’s following this, but Joe Styler and the Domain Academy at GoDaddy are running a contest with six domain investors. Each gets $500 to spend, and the goal is to see who can turn the most profit by year’s end.
There are a few rules: they have to buy on GoDaddy and list on Afternic—which makes sense since GoDaddy is backing the whole thing.
You can check out what each person bought HERE.
A few things to keep in mind: some of the international participants face higher taxes and fees per domain. Joe, since he’s a GoDaddy employee, has to wait until the last day of closeouts to buy. So there are some built-in advantages and disadvantages across the group.
What surprised me is that nobody grabbed a few hand-registered AI names and tried outbounding. Honestly, that might be the only real path to winning. Selling through landers or traditional marketplaces with these kinds of names is going to be a grind.
You can listen to the Podcast about it HERE.
