Shane's Auction Picks for Monday December 22nd
We’re in holiday time, which usually means more TV than normal. At least for me. There are a ton of good new shows right now. Here are six movies or series I watched that I thought were great. By great, I mean worth my time. I watched them without picking up my phone and actually just watched TV.
Slow Horses
One of the best series on TV in the last decade. I had a small bout of depression when I ran out of episodes. A new season has already been shot and is coming in 2026, and they are filming the next one after that. If you have not started it yet, you have plenty to keep you busy.
The Beast in Me
The main character is a complete lunatic, in the best way possible. He carried the entire series for me. Unpredictable, intense, and enough to keep me locked in the whole time.
F1
A pretty stereotypical story, and you are not going to slow clap at the end. Not even close to Ford vs Ferrari, but still enjoyable and very well shot. Brad Pitt pulls off the role even though we all know he is too old to actually be a driver. He is handsome and tough enough that you forget about it.
The Night Manager
This one is hard to watch right after Slow Horses. It feels like watching Supergirl after Superman. Still entertaining though. It takes a few episodes to get into it. The character setup and plot are all over the place early on, but it settles in and ends up being worth the time.
Fallout
Absolutely loved this show. I never played the video game, and it did not matter at all. It is as entertaining and interesting as anything on TV right now. There is a lot of gore, but you barely notice it, and eventually carrying around a head becomes almost comical. My wife liked it just as much as I did. Season two just started and is already strong. It is one of the few shows that answers as many questions as it asks, which keeps you satisfied while still wanting the next episode.
The Last of Us
A little older now and another video game adaptation from a game I never played. Another show where I could not wait for the next episode.
Quote of the Day: “Nobody watches you harder, than the people who don’t like you. So give them a show, they will never forget”.
