Shane's Daily Expiring Domain Picks for Monday September 29th
You are hearing more and more about people getting kidnapped for their crypto holdings. At the same time, there are so many fake drainer sites on Google that you absolutely cannot go to any site that uses crypto through a search engine. Because of this, most of my crypto is now in hardware wallets stored in safe deposit boxes. I don’t plan to touch it and don’t have the hardware or seed phrases to even access it. We would have to walk through a bank to get it. Its legacy money and a bank still is the safest place for it to be IMO.
I keep what I need available in liquidity pools to earn yield and a tiny bit to play. I don’t have anywhere near what the people getting kidnapped have, but it’s enough that I don’t want to make a stupid mistake and have it all drained. I’ve been drained for five figures before when I went to a site through Google three years ago that looked exactly like a site I visit regularly. The irony is that I went to Google because the site used an alternate TLD and I couldn’t remember which one.
It’s crazy how things have changed in the last decade. I used to keep cash for a rainy day and had a safe deposit box with a good amount. Now cash is literally deteriorating in front of our eyes, so I put it into crypto. Although I do think you still need some cash for emergencies—it’s silly not to. Crypto didn’t turn out to be the gold safeguard we thought it would. If the world goes south, crypto seems to follow. A stock market crash now takes crypto down with it. Things move and evolve so fast that you always need to be adjusting your assets and keeping them safe.
