DNFd in the Chicago Marathon today. I have no idea what was wrong, as I’m as fit as I’ve been in years. Pace was a pace I’ve run in training runs for 23 miles yet out of the gate my HR was 10 beats higher than it should and my legs, which always loosen up, never loosened up. I knew at half way through it would be a death march, not a race and I am past proving I can finish after 35 marathons. I’d rather save the legs for another race next month. Although doubt and failure is never a good feeling. Life puts you in your place some days. Proud of myself for putting in the work, disappointed that I missed a good day for a good run but that’s how it goes and you move on. I’ll sulk for a day and start again next week.
Not much else to say. Trying hard things humbles you. My friends all did well which makes it even harder but also happy for them which lets me know I can but also puts that doubt in your head which is brutal. Like I said, I’ll sulk a day and keep trying
