Shane's Domain Auction Picks for Wednesday January 21st

Godaddy recently announced they are now offering Lease to Own on your domains for amounts up to $5 million. I think it’s great news and a long time coming. I realize you turn into a bank when you offer LTOs, but they are a billion dollar company and already a bank since they have LTOs anyway.

What I would like to see is a section that says:

“Owner’s Financing Options”

Under it would be payment plan options, with one of them being a down payment. I would like to offer some of my names with 20% down and set terms, not just monthly payments. It prevents someone from buying a name on LTO, launching a coin or some other project, rugging it, and defaulting. Actually, it doesn’t prevent it, but it makes them pay much more for that option. I imagine there are reasons why they don’t offer this, but it would simply be adding another section with a toggle.

On another note, Jackson Elgood is releasing a new escrow company called Newly. If you remember Jackson, he used to run Escrow.com. If you’ve used Escrow.com lately, you know this will be great for the industry. I had a good talk with Jackson, and I think everyone is going to love the new choice for domain transactions.
