Shane's Wednesday Auction List
Don't forget Godaddy's Premium Auction is Still Going On
When I was a kid I my family lived next to the Shah of Iran in Acapulco
Let me put some details here. My Grandfather loved Acapulco. In the 50s it was THE place that money and movie stars hung out. He had done well in his businesses and bought a big piece of property on the hill below the giant cross in Acapulco Bay. It’s where my family went for holiday. I spent many Christmases there.
I was young but in 1979 we had a neighbor move in, Mr. Pahlavi. The Shah of Iran. My Grandmother was enamored by him and would often go over to visit. Evidently, he was really sick but Grandma never mentioned that in the stories. Just said he was a kind man, and she enjoyed her conversations He was only there a year because he had cancer and went to the states, which didn’t go over well. My Grandfather’s Acapulco investment didn’t go well either as the drug cartels eventually took over, and he barely got out with a profit despite buying very early.
Most don’t remember the old Iran, and not saying the Shah’s period was the glory years either. Just saying it’s been 50-plus years since Iran had its peak. Women had more rights 50 years ago than they have today. Extreme religious views overtook personal freedom. Iran and Iraq were progressive back in the 60s. Hard to believe we’re in 2025 and there are still places where girls don’t have freedom to be girls.
