You Can Still Make Five Figures a Month with Hand Regs
if you regged them 17 years ago
I’ve shared a few of my recent 5L.com sales, and of course, folks on X love spinning their own narratives.
Some are like, “See, hand regs can still make you money!”—well, I registered that name 17 years ago. Others are like, “I would’ve dropped that years ago.”
But here’s the thing: they were solid 5Ls that cost $10 a year to hold. If it’s not worth $10 to hang on to, it was never that good to begin with.
“What was your thought process when picking names?” Honestly? I hand-registered 4Ls and 5Ls that sounded like brands. That’s it. If it felt like a brand and it cost $10, I grabbed it. Simple.
Yeah, I was early—but I also had a process and a belief that I was building a portfolio of brandable assets. I completely missed the parking wave because of that, but as the market matures, the plan is working.
Try getting a good 5L.com now—it’ll cost you four figures. Which means if you’re selling at 10X, you’re looking at five-figure sales.
I also use Atom. If a domain gets a lot of attention, they automatically raise the price—kind of like surge pricing, except the surge never goes back down. Last year, that little feature added $25K to my sales.
This game isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. You just need a little vision… and maybe 17 years of patience.
